MMOD makes me want to shop!

In every marriage you are going to have certain "things" that drive the other spouse crazy.  I seemingly have many of them including a 100 lb. gorgeous beauty that would captivate me whenever I saw her.

I couldn’t resist her gaze and well, it drove my wife crazy.   Sure, I understood her frustrations but I couldn’t stop, my relationship with this gorgeous creature lasted almost ten years even as many of my friends would insult and mock me for not moving on.

Alas, I finally gave her up but it wasn’t easy.

My Hitachi SuperScan, one of the heaviest CRT monitors you could ever break your back carrying, was put out on the curb.  I tried to sell her through the usual channels but no one wanted her and I stared out the window, and as she stood alone on my curb, wearing nothing but a big post-it note sticker that said “Yes, it works!”.

My wife assured me that a year could by and that monitor would still be on the curb. “No one wants an antique 100 pound boulder of crap.”  Insulted, I rattled off her specifications by memory (the monitor that is - not my wife's) and guaranteed her it would be gone within seconds.

Of course I was wrong.  I always am.

It wasn't seconds.  Nearly 4 minutes went by before Ms. Hitachi was picked up and out of my life forever.  I miss you CRT monitor.  I really do.  And since that day, I have nothing.  No fancy TV, no flat screen monitor and certainly no gorgeous CRT.

But that my friends, is about to change.

I’ve spent 20+ hours watching MMOD (March Madness on Demand), across my TWO monitors at work.  One game on the laptop screen, the other on the external monitor and it feels like the first time I touched a “non-wired” TV remote or used an “inter-banking” machine (later to be known as an ATM).  It doesn't just feel like progress - it feels like magic!

Sliced Bread.  Cellphones.  Debit cards.  MMOD.  Awesome stuff that just works automagically.  Video on demand isn’t exactly a new phenomenon and neither is MMOD, but this is the first tourney where I've watched 2 games intently and I wonder WHY THE HECK DID I THROW OUT MY HITACHI?!

So it is time to buy a new external monitor, and while it won’t be 100 pounds and take up 2/3rds of my desk, I still intend for it to be fantastical.

How do you watch MMOD?  And what should I buy?!  Do I get a crazy huge monitor and try to split screen?

Or do I go for the incredibly economical ones that can still give me 1080p for well under $200.  I’ve checked out the reviews on CNET but no decisions have been made.  Including approval from a certain spouse of mine.  Meanwhile I'll be shopping looking for my next "relationship".

Cheers,
Fobeashyi
